The situation quickly escalated: instead of complying with the administration's request to extinguish his cigarette, Siqueira got into an altercation with staff, demonstratively holding it in his hands in plain sight of other participants.

When the Brazilian finally got rid of the cigarette by dropping it into a water bottle, it turned out he had committed another serious violation: he attempted to remove some of his tournament chips from the table. According to WSOP rules, chips are the property of the organizers, and their movement outside the gaming area is strictly prohibited. According to eyewitness accounts, the player's behavior was exacerbated by a state of alcohol intoxication, which necessitated security quickly escorting him out of the room.
